Nature in Brussels

Parc Tenbosch

Park

Not easily noticed, as it lies behind outer walls, green slopes and an iron gate, Parc Tenbosch – meaning park in the woods – is one of the most charming neighbourhood parks in Brussels, situated right in the heart of Ixelles, between the streets of Chaussée de Vleurgat and the Mélèzes and Hector-Denis. A quiet hidden gem of peaceful pleasure, away from the busy streets and crowds, this park makes for a relaxing weekend walk and is perfect for a picnic in one of the grassy areas under rich tree branches; the perfect setting for enjoying fall’s beauty in Brussels.

Another green miracle situated in the Forest neighbourhood, Parc Duden makes for a great city escape during fall. Large green areas expand on a hilly setting, ideal for playing sports as well as jogging around the wide pathways and lawns, while numerous benches and cozy corners offer spots to picnic or relax. The highest slope of the park is 90 meters and offers wonderful panoramas of Brussels’ neighborhoods hidden behind the densely clustered trees, making it a gorgeous spot to take in the fall scenery.

Parc Fond’Roy

Park

An amazingly inspiring walk through rural-like paths, despite still being in the city of Brussels, this park is a peaceful break from urban life. Parc Fond’Roy is ideal for a long fall walk, crossing village-like houses to reach wooden paved paths which lead to open green spaces as well as a well-kept animal farm. The regional park of Fond’ Roy also expands through a conservation area, known as Natura 2000, characterised by plants of great ecological value, such as giant sequoias, tulip trees, beeches and other trees of remarkable uniqueness.

Parc de Woluwe et étangs Mellaerts

Just on the corner of Boulevard du Souverain and Avenue de Tervuren, Parc de Woluve is ideal for a long fall walk in an expansive, green setting. Designed to offer different walks, whether on small winding paths or wider lawns full of various trees, Parc de Woluve becomes a colourful canvas during Brussels’ magical fall. Three ponds and small sitting areas can be found here as well, making it ideal for more organised family walks and picnics. Whether you plan a relaxing walk or a morning jogging on its widespread pathways, do not miss out the opportunity of visiting during fall.
